Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce

Halton Hills, ON – September 14, 2009 - In any volunteer organization the most important asset is the dedicated, long term volunteer, who helps the organization obtain its goals.

Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce is privileged to have a large number of members who give freely of their time and talents.  To honour those individuals who have contributed greatly as volunteers the Chamber presents the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce Volunteer Award in memory of Marg Tanas.  Ms Tanas was a hard working volunteer.  She was the first woman president of the Chamber and operated her own secretarial and office supply business in Georgetown.  She volunteered with the Chamber at a time when women in business were a rarity.  She was a single mother of two children and managed her time so that she excelled in all the things she undertook.  Ms Tanas passed away in 1997; this award reflects the commitment she made to Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber is pleased to announce that the ninth recipient of this award is Pat McLeod. Pat has devoted many hours of service to the Chamber over the last 13 years.  She has sat on various committees and was a Chamber Board Director from 2004 – 2007. Pat is owner of Tiburon Business Services and joined the Chamber in 1996 and began volunteering on committees soon after.

Pat joins a distinguished list of past recipients that included Ted Gorth (2001), Doug Penrice (2002), Ted Fry (2003) ,Walt Dixon (2004), Dave Kentner (2005) and Walter Biehn (2006), Chris Miller (2007) and (2008) Herma Buchanan

Pat will be presented with this award at the Chamber’s Volunteer Appreciation Reception following their Annual General Meeting on September 23, 2009.
