Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce Position on Water Conservation
The expansion of existing businesses in Halton Hills and the ability of the Town to attract new business to create local employment opportunities rest with the availability of potable water from the Town’s well-based water supply, before new employment lands are serviced and developed with a lake-based piped water supply. Residents and businesses alike have a responsibility to do what they can to help create local employment opportunities by conserving water through the wise use of water. At the same time, there is a need for residents and businesses of Halton Hills to do all that is possible to reduce the use of potable water, so that the limited well-based resource can be used more efficiently to maintain a lifestyle that is not dependent on a lake-based water supply.
Water conservation may contribute significantly to building a better Halton Hills.
